This specifically means for us:

Level of compliance:

The website is currently not fully compliant with the requirements of WCAG 2.1 at conformance level AA.

Some parts of the online service consist of legacy content published before June 28, 2025. According to § 2 (3) BFSG, these are subject to grandfathering provisions, which means there is no immediate legal obligation to ensure full accessibility.

Nevertheless, our goal is to gradually reduce existing barriers and adapt protected content to the WCAG 2.1 AA requirements in the long term – as far as technically and economically feasible.

Optimization Strategy

Our optimization strategy follows WCAG 2.1, conformance level AA, and additionally aims for selected AAA-level requirements (AA+), where technically and editorially appropriate.

The goal is to continuously improve accessibility without compromising system stability or user experience. Accordingly:

• new content and functions are created to be accessible,
• existing components are revised for accessibility with every technical, functional, or design update,
• content maintenance and updates are carried out with accessibility awareness,
• voluntary extensions are implemented according to selected WCAG 2.1 AAA criteria, where feasible within technical, design, and economic limits.

This component-based and ongoing adjustment process serves the sustainable improvement of digital accessibility in accordance with the BFSG – without compromising system stability or user experience.

An overview of identified optimization potential and planned measures with a timeline is documented in the following section of this statement.

Despite largely achieving Level AA compliance, the goal is to continuously develop the online service further and – where appropriate – incorporate selected WCAG Level AAA (AA+) requirements:

Due to the following incompatibilities and exceptions, this website is partially compliant with Conformance Level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines – WCAG 2.2 and the applicable European Standard.

1.1.1 Meaningful text alternatives for non-text content (A)
Not all non-text content (e.g. images, graphics, interactive elements) has appropriate alternative text that meaningfully describes its purpose or content. This may cause loss of information for screen reader users.

1.2.3 Audio description or text alternative for videos (A) / 1.2.5 Audio description for videos (AA)
Recorded videos do not provide audio descriptions, making visual content insufficiently accessible for blind and visually impaired users.

1.3.1 Info and relationships (A)
The HTML structure and semantic markup are not consistently implemented (e.g. not all texts are marked with <p></p>, or headings are not marked with <h2> or similar). This can hinder the use of assistive technologies.

1.4.3 Contrast minimum (AA)
Text does not always meet the required minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1, which reduces readability, particularly for users with visual impairments.

2.1.1 Keyboard accessibility (A)
Not all website functions are fully operable via keyboard. This means users with motor impairments who cannot use a mouse may be unable to access or interact with certain areas of the site.

2.2.2 Pause, stop, hide (A)
Moving content (e.g. carousels, automatic animations, overlays) cannot always be paused, stopped, or hidden. This may cause distraction and reduce concentration or text comprehension.

2.4.1 Bypass blocks (A)
Direct skip links to the main content (“Skip to Content”) are missing on some pages. This significantly extends navigation paths for screen reader and keyboard users, who must manually navigate through menus or repeated content.

2.4.4 Link purpose (A)
The purpose of some links is not clear from the link text or context (e.g. “click here” instead of “View product details”). This is especially problematic for screen reader users, as often only the isolated link text is read out.

2.4.5 Multiple ways (AA)
Several pages lack alternative navigation options such as a search function, sitemap, or table of contents. This makes it harder for users to efficiently find or access content.

3.1.2 Language of parts (AA)
Content in other languages (e.g. terms, quotes, menus) is not always correctly marked with the appropriate language code, which may cause assistive technologies to mispronounce them.

4.1.1 W3C-compliant HTML (A)
The HTML syntax contains errors (e.g. missing tags, nested elements, duplicate IDs), which can cause problems for assistive technologies when processing the site.

4.1.2 ARIA support (A)
User interface components do not include all necessary roles, states, or properties (e.g. aria-* attributes), meaning screen readers and other assistive technologies cannot always interpret information correctly.

The goal is to reliably meet the legal requirements of WCAG 2.1 Level AA and additionally implement elements from the extended area of digital accessibility (partly WCAG 2.1 AAA) – where appropriate and technically feasible within the project context.

Implementation takes place within the framework of re-audits, module-specific updates, and project-related maintenance processes. All relevant measures, deadlines, and responsibilities are documented transparently.

This website is optimized for current browser generations (e.g. Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge) and supports assistive technologies such as screen readers and zoom functions. System settings (e.g. reduced motion) are taken into account where technically possible.

This online service has been tested for accessibility. In addition, a comprehensive re-audit is conducted once a year.
